On April 24 events dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide took place in Brussels and a number of other Belgian cities.

A Holy Mass in commemoration of the sacred victims of the Armenian Genocide was served at the Saint Mary Magdalene Armenian Church of Brussels. The Mass was attended by hundreds of representatives of the Belgian Armenian community, heads of the community organizations, and Armenian diplomatic missions.

The Mass was followed by patticipants' procession to the cross-stone memorial dedicated to the memory of victims of the Armenian Genocide at the Henri Michaux Square. Commemorative event and wreath laying ceremony took place in the presence of the representatives of Belgian legislature and government, municipal authorities, organizations of national minorities residing in Belgium.

Addressing the event and commemorating the sacred victims of Armenian Genocide Ambassador of Armenia Tatoul Markarian, noted in particular that recently we witnessed largescale aggression against Artsakh unleashed by Azerbaijan and, not surprisingly, the blatant encouragement and support voiced by Turkey. The Ambassador stressed, that “this brings upon the necessity of further consolidation to confront Turkey’s blunt denial and continuous genocidal posture, which nourishes the Azerbaijani aggression that we have to stop once and for all”.

Ambassador Markarian highly appreciated further consolidation of the Armenian Community around the Motherland.
