Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Armenia Jean-Arthur Régibeau (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The President of Armenia congratulated Ambassador Régibeau on starting his diplomatic career in Armenia and wished him success. Noting that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Belgium, Serzh Sargsyan noted with satisfaction that in the past two and a half decades the bilateral interstate relations have been developing constantly. However, according to the President, the expectations are high when it comes to the deepening the bilateral relations and filling the bilateral agenda with a new content. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the newly appointed Ambassador will make considerable efforts to promote the Armenian-Belgian relations and multifaceted cooperation.

Ambassador Régibeau thanked the President for receiving him and underscored that in the last 25 years the two countries have indeed enjoyed friendly relations, and his task is to preserve and develop them.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the opportunities for the expansion of the Armenian-Belgian relations and their prospects in bilateral as well as multilateral formats.

The parties spoke also about the NK peace process.
