The Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan met with the Minister of Security and Home Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium Bernard Quintin

The Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, during her working visit to Brussels, met the Minister of Security and Home Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium Bernard Quintin.
 
Welcoming Arpine Sargsyan, Bernard Quintin highly appreciated the partnership established between the two countries, emphasizing the need for their strengthening and continuous development. The Minister of Security and Home Affairs reaffirmed Belgium’s readiness to expand cooperation with Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.
 
Minister Sargsyan, expressing gratitude for the warm reception, congratulated Minister Quintin on his appointment to the position. Arpine Sargsyan presented the process of establishing the Ministry of Internal Affairs, its structure, and the main directions of reforms being implemented in its subordinate services, particularly in the Police.
 
Within the framework of migration policy the current stage of the EU visa liberalization process and the actions aimed at implementing related programs were discussed, emphasizing their strategic importance in the context of Armenia-EU relations.
 
The parties also discussed the possibilities of introducing effective mechanisms for coordinated efforts to fight against drug trafficking and organized crime and exchanging experience. The Belgium’s Minister of Security and Home Affairs Bernard Quintin accepted Arpine Sargsyan's invitation to visit Yerevan.
 
During the meeting the importance of enhancing the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation and the necessity of involving liaison officers for the prompt exchange of information were also highlighted.
 
The parties reaffirmed the importance of organizing mutual visits between the Ministries and expanding programs aimed at retraining of rescuers and police officers.
