Gala concert dedicated to the 25th anniversary of independence of Armenia at the Cathedral of Brussels

On October 1^st Brussels St. Michel and St. Gudula Cathedral hosted 25th anniversary concert celebration of the independence of the Republic of Armenia. “Little Singers of Armenia” choir led by Tigran Hekekyan performed Armenian liturgical chants, works of Armenian and foreign composers. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Belgium in cooperation with the Armenian Apostolic Church of Belgium, “Gumuchdjian” Foundation, AGBU Europe office and “Hay Doun” cultural center of Brussels.

The Head of the Mission of Armenia to the EU, Ambassador of Armenia to Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Tatoul Markarian addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. Ambassador Markarian highly appreciated the choir’s excellent performance and deemed symbolic the praise of Armenia’s independence by the “Little Singers of Armenia”, who represent the generation of independence themselves.

More than seven hundred participants of the event included officials from the EU, the Belgian officials and public, artists, leaders of Armenian Church and community organizations, many members of the Armenian community of Belgium.

In the evening following the concert the choir staged a flesh-mob performance dedicated to the 25^th anniversary of independence of Armenia at the Brussels central square, the Grand Place, which was happily welcomed and rejoiced by Belgians and tourists present at the square.
