The meeting of the Armenian Ambassador with the Minister President of Flanders

On February 20, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders Matthias Diependaele received the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Belgium Tigran Balayan.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tigran Balayan congratulated Matthias Diependaele on assuming the position of the Head of the Government of Flanders, highlighting the need to develop multilateral cooperation between Armenia and Flanders.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in areas of trade and economic cooperation, science, education, culture and tourism. In this context, the Ambassador gave a comprehensive overview on the economic attractiveness of Armenia, offering to organize the visit of an economic mission consisting of Flemish companies to Armenia.

Prime Minister Diependale was also presented with the results of cooperation in the field of education with Flemish universities and the tangible accomplishments in this dimension.

While making reference to the resolutions previously adopted by the Parliament of Flanders, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for emphasizing the need to protect the security and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, as well as for addressing the rights of the forcibly displaced Armenians from Nagorno Karabakh.

In this context, Ambassador Balayan made a thorough presentation about Armenia's foreign policy, focusing on the implementation of the "Crossroads of Peace" Project and the envisaged prospects of regional cooperation.
