The Belgian Minister of Defense held a meeting with the Ambassador of Armenia

On January 27, Ambassador Tigran Balayan met with the Belgian Minister of Defense and Foreign Trade, Theo Francken.

Ambassador Balayan introduced Colonel Vardan Hovakimyan, Armenia’s first resident military attaché in Belgium, to Minister Francken, highlighting that his presence will help further strengthen Armenian-Belgian cooperation in the defense sector.

An agreement was reached to explore ways of expanding cooperation in the fields of education, military training, and medical services.

Minister Francken expressed his appreciation for Armenia’s ongoing and significant contribution to NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo and discussed potential avenues for cooperation in future peacekeeping operations.

Ambassador Tigran Balayan briefed his interlocutor on the achievements in implementing Armenia’s peace agenda, as well as regional infrastructure projects-particularly the Government of Armenia’s 'Crossroads of Peace' initiative-the outcomes of the Washington Peace Summit, and the steps taken toward the implementation of TRIPP. In this context, he highlighted to the Belgian Minister of Foreign Trade the opportunities for Belgian companies to become involved.
